Okay Im sure this isnt possible but someone asked me and I wasn't 100% sure of the answer.
Are you able to burn an original avi file onto a dvd along with the vobs for that same movie and still be able to play the movie in a dvd player? I assume the avi will upset the dvd player as it wont know how to handle them?

yep, you can mix dvd-video and data files and it will work on dvd players. In for example nero burning rom select dvd-video add the vob,ifo,bup files to the video_ts folder and the avi files to a new folder or to the root folder.

The player won't care about the avi, it will just ignore it. Same goes for players that can actually handle avi's, unless you kill the DVD structure, but then it wouldn't work on regular standalones at all.
