Yeah very few dvd players that play mp3 cd discs can read from a dvd with mp3 files on them. Most will see a dvdr and expect video on them. Though maybe a few of the divx/xvid players will read mp3 on dvds, don't know for sure though.

And @ hech54 - what do you mean??? I have 5.5gb of mp3's on my computer, that would take two dvd'rs. And that's after I recompressed about half of them to mp3pro @ 64kbps (half size of 128kbps with the same quality ).

  4. Hi,

The problem of writing hundred of songs inside a DVD is not only to find a DVD player able to play them but the navigation through the disc.
Have a look to this link: http://www.dvdr-digest.com/articles/32_1.html

Does your player support MP3 playback ??
    If not, no.
    If yes, yes.

If they are capable of MP3 playback they will, they only expect video on a dvdr if it is a video disc and has the compatible video format on them or a video_ts folder.

I have burned tons of folder's each with their own MP3's in them and straight mp3's with no folders to dvdr and they all play back fine on my pioneer standalone.

If you don't want to feel left out just reencode your mp3's at a higher bitrate. Or convert them to wav and you'll be able to easily fill a dvdr

  8. contrary to popular belief, though, reencoding mp3's is NOT a good idea, it does butcher the quality considerabaly, and if your using that lousy mp3 pro, it will play back on your output device with the same quality of a standard mp3 of the same bitrate....generally speaking, not a good idea......all depending on exactly how much you care about the audio quality, and if your player supports this, you may just be better off ripping the audio cd's to wav or just rip to mp3.....for god's sake dont reencode the mp3's....it's the same type of idea as video....just because your using a "better" codec doesnt mean that your not still losing quality.....
