About 3 months ago my PC crashed and I had to reinstall everything. I have a high end PC with all the bells and whistles necessary for producing DVD home movies.
Since my crash I am perfectly able to edit my projects through windows movie maker and they play fine on the PC , but after transferring them to DVD there are now framerate issues on the DVD on panning shots where there had not been before my crash.
I have no less than 4 different types of DVD burning engine (Sonic My DVD v4, Roxio essentials 8, Nero burning rom SE and Cyberlink Power producer) and they all fail to produce the smooth DVD playback I was used to before my crash . I had previously used Sonic MyDVD v4 with no problems at all.
Can anyone suggest a reason why I'm having this problem and what might be done to alleviate it now ?
Many thanks in advance

are you using PAL in all tools? so you are not changing framerate to NTSC.
-
You are indeed correct . My Windows movie maker for some reason has converted the default setting for saving files from PAL to NTSC after my crash.
All my projects have been saved as NTSC files as a consequence.
Do you know of any way in which I can convert the NTSC projects I currently have without having to labouriously re do them all again now that I have converted my tools back to PAL ? -
Despite converting my movie making tools to PAL in both Sonic and Windows movie maker, my saved projects revert back to NTSC after I pause editing despite being saved on PAL format in movie maker.
This problem has become so irritating that I'm on the verge of giving up trying to make DVDs as they arent worth making given the ultra poor framerate quality I get as a consequence.
I have no idea why my projects are reverting to NTSC but are saved in PAL. -
For WMM, go to Tools->Options. Click on the Advanced tab and select your format and AR. These should hold, and will then limit your choices when saving the file out. You may have to check this prior to saving to confirm the settings have held.
If you are serious about quality, you should not be using Windows Movie Maker and Sonic as your tools. If you are on a budget, look at POremiere Elements or Vegas Movie Studio as good quality budget DV editor/DVD production tools.Read my blog here.
