Hello People,
What is the most suitable compression of main movie for you in case of backing up to DVD-5?

Ideally, none. If I have to use compression then as little as possible.

Depends on how much compression is required. Personally, if a little compression is needed (ie say 90% above), then i use DVD Shrink (of course with advanced options to reduce quality loss).
If greater compression is needed, then I use DVD RB Pro with CCE.
There is no suitable compression. Everyone have their own opinion to what is acceptable and what is not. Some people hate compressing a movie so they either split to 2 disks or burn to DL media.
What will you view the compressed movie on. A 50" screen or your 17" computer monitor. A slighly comprssed movie will not be noticable on a small screen, whereas it can make a huge difference on a large screen.
Just do some trail burning on RW disks and see for yourself if the compression is acceptable to you.
There is no rule of thumb of a suitable level of compression. Thats a individuals choice. -
thanks ppl for your replies,
I have 27" Sony XBR right now, but I am thinking about getting 42", possibly 50" Plasma.
On XBR everything looks fine, but will it be a big difference on plasma?
