I like to encode my DVD movies into avi files onto my computer. I would like to know how to cut out certain scenes from some of my movies without loosing any quality or messing up the video/audio sync. I use Virtualdubmod alot, but I haven't been able to find out how to do this. If someone could point me to a guide or tell me how to do this I would appretiate it.

That depend's on the tool's you have and most importantly what it was compressed into ... codec wise .

You could simply apply the same technique I use to split up vob's .

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=291744 (add chapters to mpegs)

However , this depend's on codec used , in order for virtualdub/mod to beable to open it .

Should vdub beable to open the file .
Go to video , sellect "direct stream copy" .
Same should be used for audio .

Then select first frame of first clip .

Right in the middle , below this time line bar are two arrow button's ... hit the first one (left)
    This lock's first frame .

The time line bar , it has a button on it , drag this to your last frame of first clip .
If you go past it , use the left arrow key to come back frame by frame .

Now hit that right button (the arrow thingy) .

You have now locked you first clip .

Save as avi , give it a name , and include the extension ".avi" onto the name ... something still not fixed in virtualdub/mod .

When that is written out to folder .
Click on time line , not smack on it , just above in the same area (write that frame down just incase before you do this) .

Now click left arrow on keyboard once only , you now are on first frame of second clip , lock this now , and repaet step's as described above .

Do this until you have created all the required clip's you require .

You can simply avoid sellecting those area's of no interest , and not save these as avi's ... simple .

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then you can use append mode to link those you want to keep , back into a seperate video clip .

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As with my guide , you could convert avi to vob , then follow my guide in the removal of unwanted part's .
