Burned seven mpegs to dvd on Saturday and ejected the disc without finalizing. Burned six more on the same disc Sunday, hit finalize, and ejected the dvd. Problem: when I put the dvd in my computer's dvd player, only the Saturday vids show up on the disc. However, they all show up when I put the disc in my NEC writer. So, how can I make my computer recognize all of the vids?

P.S. Yes, I was careful to hit the "continue multi-session" tab on Sunday, so that's not the culprit.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Well, it has no problem reading my multi-session CD'S that I burn with Roxio on an Iomega burner.

CD's and DVD's are so very different. In the very early days you couldn't even do multiseason DVD's . .my old Pioneer A05 couldn't even write them, let alone read them. My guess is this is where the problem lies.

I should add that I'm working with a very old Dell. Could my player just be outdated? Will IsoBuster allow it to recognize multi-session DVDs?

Isobuster will let you get all the info off the disk ... hopefully.
Then you can re burn as one complete season for ease of use.

I think you misunderstand my problem. There is no corrupt data or error messages. I don't need to retrieve vids from a damaged disc. Isn't that the main purpose of IsoBuster? I just need my Dell dvd player to recognize and play all the vids that I know are on that disk. No "reburning" is necessary; I just need "access."

ISOBuster gives access to data under a variety of conditions.

That said, if you can read them through your NEC burner, what is the problem. Either read them through that device, or as suggested, copy them to a new disc as a single session. Technically, your disc might not be broken or faulty, but if you cannot read it through one device and it is important that you can, semantics become moot. For all intents and purposes, to that drive, it is a faulty disc - you cannot access all the data on it.

I don't understand what you are arguing about. You have been given solutions. You might not like that your reader can't read this disc, but that won't change the facts any.

Yes, I "could" use the NEC burner as a last resort, but that's not very convenient. I need my two USB ports for other devices, so it's not always hooked up. In your first reply, you mentioned that my dvd player was probably the culprit, not the disc. Therefore, I was just wondering if I could tweak or upgrade my player with software in the same manner that people alter their DVD players to make them "region-free." I'm not "arguing"; I'm confused.

You could look for a firmware upgrade, which might address the issue. Otherwise, DVD Rom drives are cheap - replace it with a newer, more capable model.

Before doing that, I would burn another multi-session disc as a test to see if the problem repeats. No conclusions can be drawn from a single experience.
