    I have downloaded VirualDubMOD and when I tried to opwn my .avi files they didn't work?

    Would anyone know the reasion for this?

    Sorry - crystal ball is in the shop at the moment. You will have to supply a little more information.

    lets start with :

    1. What sort of avi files ? AVI is a container format. The codecs used to format the video and audio define what is truly is. Use something like g-spot to determine the contents, and whether or not you have suitable codecs installed.

    2. What error messages does virtualdubmod give you ? It doesn't just not open a file. It will tell you why.

    error message was

    Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown).
    VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
    decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media
    Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this
    video.

    So this Divx codec dosen't need to have the Player with the same name or anything?
    I can still use VirualdubMOD with it?
