    anyone that point me to a good applicaion to convert a XviD avi clip to a .gif animated image? I tried some applications that I found on google (hero video converter and AVD video processor) but they didn't work for me.

    you can use mplayer, it is a command line tool so you have to open a command prompt and type
    mplayer -vo gif89a video.avi

    or ulead gif animator or adobe imageready might work

    Can you tell me exactly what I should type in cmd?
    I downloaded and putted mplayer to D:\Program Files\mplayer
    and I located the video under C:\video.avi

    "D:\Program Files\mplayer\mplayer.exe" -vo gif89a -ao null -vc dummy -scale C:\video.avi

    Can't remember the command to specify the output filename off the top of my head.

    Should point out that a dedicated gif animator type app will let you optimise the colour pallete, etc. mplayer does none of that however it can convert way more formats probably than anything else. avi, wmv, mov, mp4, mpg, DVD, AVISynth script, etc.
