Ive just downloaded and setup virtualvcr on ymsystem. I have a winfast expert2000 capture card so downloaded the patched file found on this site. However when I try to capture all I see is a blue screen. When I play back the file I get the same thing?

Any ideas on why this could be?

Okay Ive got it to to work by first opening up the winfast pvr software that came with my card. However I have to admit the quality of the captured video compared to the quality I get from my winfast pvr software is very poor. And thats using the same capture settings etc for both.

Usually the case, the software is designed for the card. In some cases you may not even have some options available if your using software other than that supplied by the manufacturer.

I've found Virtual VCR to be an excellent capture app that gives great results. Something is definitely wrong if you can't get it to work by itself. And it's hard to give you any advice when you haven't told us what all your settings are, what codec you are using, etc.

  6. make sure the input setting is correct, it is possible the capture is set to svideo and you are connected to analog input so it doesn't get a signal. Tell us from what source you are capturing? I use ATI AIW and record on dvd setting virtual VCR saves space but if you want to burn it to dvd for a 2 hour doesn't fit on cd will have bad quality and if on dvd you might as well go with dvd settings and save time on authoring since you don't have to re-encode.
