I want to upload my video to my pc from my dv-camcorder.

What kind of capture card do I need? I want to spend $50.00-$100.

So many different capture cards out-there to buy..

Can the same card have tv-tuner?

    I have a dell dimension pentium 4 2.8ghz 1g-ram. (200g external hd)
I already have dvd-rw and will be using premiere pro and nero.

    thanks for any replies.

Dv camcorder? Why not get a firewirecard? That way you just do a file dump without reencoding. Then you have the untouched files ready for conversion.

Or you might have a firewire port already if you have a pretty new computer with all the options.

Other than that an ati all in wonder card would work really well. Or a hauppage wintv pvr 250 (mpeg only).

Like Yoda313 said; all you need is a firewire port on your PC. The video on your DV camcorder is already digital in the form of DV avi. Use the firewire to simply transfer (copy) to your PC hard drive.

Use winDV (freeware) set to type 2 DV to do the transfer to your HDD. Then use your software to edit, convert and author to DVD.

Look for firewire cards at Newegg.com

Only if your dv camcorder has a passthrough option. You'd have to check your manual to see if you can do that. Or you could record to your camcorder input than transfer that but it would double your transfer time and add wear and tear on your camcorder.
