  1. Odd situation/question for all you ffmpegX gurus out there:

I just noticed the "Dual CPU" threading option in the mpeg2enc options pane. I enabled it, and it actually was slower at encoding my file than the "Normal" setting. Does that make sense? Anyone else have experience with it?

    Here's my setup:
    Dual 2.0 GHz G5 / 2GB RAM / OS 10.4.4 / ffmpegX 0.0.9v
XViD AVI -> mpeg2enc DVD, subtitles

Shed some on this issue if you can...

    Thanks,

    Matthew

  2. Quick update. The conversion took about twice as long with the "Dual CPU" setting than it did with the "Normal" setting.

Great question. I'll await major's clarification.

  4. I'm going to update mpeg2enc for 0.0.9w, perhaps this will help for Dual too.

    Major,

Just wondering if H264 (for iPod) benefits from dual-processors already or if some kind of alteration of the code is necessary, as well.

    Thanks

(Take your time in answering, no rush.)

  6. It does benefit from dual processor, especially in the x264 version which shall be included in 0.0.9w.

  7. Major,

Thanks for all your work. It was just something I ran into, so no rush!!! I am so glad I supported this product. ffmpegX is the shizzy!
