Someone made these statements on another forum:
1. The Sylvania DVR 90VE and the Emerson EWR 20V4 can only record to a 4x disc.
2. The above combo recorders cannot record to a 1-8x disc or a 2-4x disc speed.
3. The 4x disc is being discontinued and will not be available soon.
4. Every disc maker will only be making 8x and higher speed discs.
Will someone please clarify disc speed situation, as I know nothing about that and was planning to purchase one of above recorders.

4x discs will soon be a thing of the past, alot of manufacterers have already quit making 4x discs. Don't buy one of those recorders unless they are going to offer a firmware update allowing the use of 8x discs. One day 8x discs will be gone too.

Contact Funai Corporation. They will ask your model number, ect, and send you out firmware to allow it to burn at 8x.
