Sylvania - DVL1000F ???

While answering another question I noticed this $89 list player scored just below the Oppo 981 and above other Oppo models and most other premium $$$ models. It uses the Genesis chipset. Is this a hidden value?

PS: Also I am surprised to find the lowest scoring player is a $450 Pioneer from way back in time. Was this a good intention gone wrong?

Sylvania doesn't make their own electronics. It's probably a Funai.

True but this model made #10 over many more expensive units.

And where does the Funai rank? It's very rare for a company to make electronics different for another company than what they make for themselves or everyone else they sell to, it has happened in the past, but not often. I've seen the exact same electronics under 2 different names get far different ratings.
