    hi,

I have added some music to my photos using photo story 3 for Windows and created an executable .wmv file which is playing well with the windows media player 10. but when i burn it as a data cd using roxio creator 5 and playing it in my dvd player, i am not able to view anything.
Moreover, the filesize has been compressed to 42 mb from 386mb after making it as an executable window media/audio file.
Can anyone help me regarding this problem.

Most DVD players will not play WMV, check the user manual for your DVD player do see if it plays WMV.

WMV is generally used for reducing file size so that the video files can be played on the computer or emailed or on handhelds. It is really not intended to be burned to DVD and played with a DVD player.

You should burn your photo show as mpeg2 and then author to DVD. Standard DVDs use mpeg2, which includes commercial DVDs as well.

  3. I have quite a bit of WMV files. I ususally convert them to VCD mpeg-1 files with TMPGenc 2.5( freeware) . then either :

    1. Burn the mpeg-1 file to VCD.

    2. Use DVDauthor to include the mpeg-1 files, and burn into a DVD.

They will not look that great on large screen TV.

I tried with TMPGEnc but the picture quality is reduced. Is there any other quality freeware software that can add music to photos and burn to data CD as mpeg file.

  5. MS consumerware hardly produce any good result.

You want to try software memories_on_TV, which can produce stunning slide show with music and transistion effect easily, on a DVD.

Memories_on_TV use either TMPGENC or its native encoder. Our issue is not TMPGenc, but you want to put it on CD, which only support VCD. Try DVD+/-R, the result is beter and the disc is cheaper.

That is what slideshow software does, combine photos and music so that it can be put to CD or DVD and played.

You need to do a little work on your own instead of having someone at this site hold your hand. You want free software and free step by step instructions.

I'll say it again, google slideshow software!

Or better yet learn how to use the tools section of this forum!

  10. Try DVD Slideshow GUI in the tools section and see if that will do the trick for you.
