USB PROTS 1.1 or 2.0?

I have broke down and I going to join the club but I have a Compaq ok no booing and hissing. I figure a external unit is the only way to go. My problem is it talk about USB ports types. It dose not mater how fast the burner is if you have USB1.1.the fastest it will go is x4 even if it is a x24 My question is there a easy way to find out which version USB you got.

to give u an idea, i bought my new dell laptop (top of the line) in Nov of 2001. Still USB 1.1


U probally, 99% have USB 1.1

If u have a spare PCI card, you can get a USB 2.0 card that will give you 2 USB 2.0 ports.

Some cd-rw's include the card.
