  1. I have access to Quicktime 5 Pro. Why is it when I open a .mov, I go to export the movie as an AVI, then try and set the codec for the compression, none of the good codecs (namely DivX) is listed? I only have "BMP", "Cinepak", "DV - NTSC", "DV - PAL", "Intel Indeo Video 4.4", and "None." If anyone has Quicktime 5 Pro, can they give me what settings they've used when/if they've exported to AVI? Any help would be appreciated, to myself and my poor harddrives with too much data. (71.588GB used out of 106.758GB possible)

  2. Apple is working on adding mpeg4. Sorenson 3 basic has been added to version 5.02. This depends on what you are exporting for. You have to experiment with each codec. I usually use none prior to converting to mpeg1 for vcd.
Go to the Quicktime site for more on how to use it. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/tutorials/

  3. I do have to ask this. Why are you saving AVI's on the hard drive?

  4. Where else would I put them?

  5. No. From what I gathered in your first post it sounded as if you were archiving the AVI's on the hard drive and not going anywhere from there.

  6. Oh, I'm going to convert the .avi's into VCD-compliant mpeg's, and make a VCD out of them. The .mov files are a series and would make a great Video CD.

  7. Okay. I know I couldn't help too much, but that's what I do when I go to AVI. Then from there to VCD with Tmpgenc.
