A kinda basic question...
I recently got a JVC DVD recorder and it's great. I have recorded some shows and
would like to try some movies (from cable). Regarding volume levels: my digital
cable box is driving the main input (meaning the volume setting of the box will
determine the volume level of the DVD recording).
The question: Would I be better off maxing the digital cable box volume to make
the recordings or do you think this would cause distortion in playback? Everything
I know about analog -> digital audio recording tells me to get the "hottest" signal
I can.
Any ideas?
thanks-
mick

I would expect that with the cable box volume at 100%, you should be seeing a normal line level signal. I seriously doubt the cable box is amplifying the signal as that would create too many sound quality issues.
