I've got a problem with DVD authoring.
I got a vob file which I demuxed with vobedit into a m2v and a wav(?) file
Hereafter I tried to author a new dvd with dvdlab pro and added this two files again.
However when the dvd was authored and played on a stand alone player there is no sound.
Play the same dvd on my PC the file is played with sound.
How is this possible and is there no sound on my stand alone player?
Anyone who can help me?

Your audio may not be not true stereo. Pop it back into your dvd player and choose left only speaker or right only speaker and see if the sound is there. If it's only on one channel no sound will come out when stereo is chosen.
To fix it you must reencode the audio. -
The strangest thing is that the original was playable with sound.
With vobedit I demuxed it into a m2v file and a wave file (shouldn't it be a mpa file?)
I haven't touch the audio file so how can it become mono instead of stereo?
What i've done now is i convert the wav file into a mp2 file.
Let's see what this gives.

Use virtualmod to load vob , audio tab set to full processing , then audio conversion , check 48khz , then save as wav .
Use besweet to convert wav to ac3 , I prefer 5.1 at 96kbps .
Author dvd with this ac3 stream .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Be-aware , some dvd players have 6 audio output's , and some only 2 .
If your's is 6 audio output's , and you have only a 2 audio connection cable (left/right) , you will need to move the audio cables about till you get them correct , ie , left output playing on left speaker ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If this vob is multiple vobs , use the above method to process all audio .
Note : Audio must always be matched , format / bitrate ... or you can give you dvd player a hard time ...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The average dvd title processed this way has an audio ac3 file average of around 90 mb's .
This is just to give you an idea as to how much a title can be shrunk down by using dvdshrink . -
If you are only using a digital audio connection (digi coax, optical) and the authoring program authored it to mpeg audio you may not hear anything. At least this is what happens when I don't encode my dvd's to AC3 with my setup. If I use the mpeg audio instead I have to set my surround sound receiver to analog and use the standard rca cables....to avoid the hassle i always encode to AC3. That is just my setup, however, and may not have anything to do with your problem. Just thought i'd throw it out t here.
