I'm about to render a large DVD project this weekend w/ Vegas, I wanted to check with others to see if there are any tips/advice to do before rendering?
I will render as .mpg2 and do 2pass for the video.
The only thing i do is check every video clip to make sure they all say either "upper" or "lower" field 1st, this way there is no jumping on TVs, but is there other good practices b4 rendering?

restart computer before 'rendering'
and close any un-necessary software. -
You are rendering effects or just a DVD MPeg?
Have you explored networked rendering? IMO, more trouble than it is worth so far, but just project to 4 core.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
