Now that i'm getting a laptop and all, i decided i want to go the cheap route for a DVD-RW drive. Whats the cheapest, but fuctional external encloseure out there for converting a desktop burner to external USB/firewire? Don't want to spend much, just something simple thats works well.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

http://www.cooldrives.com/ is one company that has a fair selection. There are others just a 'Google' away. Newegg undoubtably has a few.
I would recommend Firewire for external drives. USB works fine most of the time, Firewire most always works. -

I have two of these ... one in from of me and one I carry with me ... with my laptop ... work just fine for me. There is a firewire version.
CompUSA had a sale on their Mad Dog USB external enclosures recently ... retail was around $50 bucks ... they had them priced for $25 bucks ... I bought all of them sitting there ... 3 of them.
I have one being used in my wife's computer room.
Try these people too .... I've been getting stuff from them ...
