  1. Hi all,
Please be patient with me as I am new to this, I have read the manuals and forums but cannot find the answer to my question. My question is -

Is it necassary to convert your avi files from premiere pro into mpeg 2-DVD, so encore can recognise the file?
The problem is when I have avi files, say of a home movie, I go to FILE>SAVE AS. The only options I get is Adobe Premiere Pro Project (prproi), but have no other file chooses at all. Is this correct? Or what am I DOING WRONG? All I have done is put all my AVI files into a new bin and placed that bin into the timeline.
So when I load up Encore and choose to load the file name home movie (prproi), (were have my avi files gone?). Then I tried to load the file using encore but is says it is either corrupt or the file is not supported?
    WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?????
But the annoying thing is I can see the individual 57 AVI files seperatley ubder the main file name, then I see the file I have saved my timeline from premiere as one file but in that silly (prpoi) format.

Can anyone Please explain what I am doing wrong as it seems silly to save you premiere files to mpeg2 when encore can do this

    Kind Regards Josel

    Hi josel,

When you do File -> Save As, you're saving the project and not the timeline. That's what the "prproj" is - premiere project.

You need to File -> Export the timeline. I don't have or know about Encore, so not sure if you need to export to DV AVI for Encore to do the encoding, or whether you need to export to MPEG2 for DVD for Encore to then author.

Encoding in Premiere Pro is done with the in-built Mainconcept MPEG Encoder.

    Good luck.
