  1. Hi all,

I have my vcr connected to my sony camcoreder, which is connected to the computer via firewire, I then capture the footage using premiere pro 1.5

The question is, if I use the process above will the footage be digitised? and at what point?

Then is it wise to buy a dazzle hollywood dv bridge or is their anything better? I am looking for the footage to be the best quality it can be.

    Kind Regards Josel

  2. The moment you capture it on your computer it becomes digitzed. Whether you pass it through your camcorder, or through the Hollywood DV Bridge, both methods work and accomplish the same task.

The Hollywood DV Bridge is nice for a lot of things. I used to use one to capture from VHS to DVD and it worked great.

Don't spend any extra money if you don't really need to. Using your camcorder as a pass-through device does exactly the same thing as the bridge.

Which camcorder do you have? If it has pass-through capability, the analog video is "captured" and digitized inside the camcorder to DV format and is then sent as a DV stream over IEEE-1394 where it is directed into a DV-AVI file. Premiere Pro will access the data from this file.
