OK, so I bought a copy of Initial D, the live action movie. And I am going on a trip to canada in a few days, and wanted to rip a couple movies to my HD to watch on the way. So I used MTR to rip all the movies I wanted, then I started the Initial D movie. I got a message at the beggining saying that the DVD had bad sectors purposely put in. I said for it to pad the dvd, and then continue ripping. So it finishes, and gives me the bad sector error. I gom well, it must be for the padded parts. Well, i load the dvd folder up in VLC and all the menus work, but the movie itself doesnt play. It just stops VLC. It does the same thing in DVD Player as well. So I tried reripping the DVD with deleting that VOB instead of padding it. I got the Error again at the end. I did the same tests as I did before and the same thing happened. It didnt play. I then tried it on Arccos and it didnt work either...WHAT SHOULD I DO??!! Its really confusing me.
Q
PS: I am alive, although ive been busy with about 1 trillion other things. I am still a dihard Mac Video person!

Q,
welcome to el bastardo, aka ArCCos v.2.0.
Gb is working on a new version of MTR 3.0
(r13) to deal with this, but it isn't out yet.
There are steps listed in the MTR forum
on how to deal with the new upgraded
ArCCos for now ( see the posts on the Cave or
Legend of Zorro, which also use ArCCos v.2)."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

I lookd on the forums and tried it with 2.66 again. And it did rip, and it did give me the errors, but the playback works...kind of. I think i will just wait for r13 and take the dvd along with me. Damn the movie companies for their advance in protection!

Are you saying what I think you are saying here? I got a similar fashion in which I used MTR 2.66 to rip myself a backup of my original Flight Plan (movie only), however no matter how many times I try I get bad sector errors as well. Upon playing the first part remains black. But if I skip to the next chapter and then rewind close to the begining, then playback works. Wierd huh, but a pain in the arse.

Nevermind... I found my own answer. Seems like a new kind of rip guard going on from Macrovision. Guess I will stick to my original like others have to for the time being.
Lead, Follow, Or Get Outta The Way! -
Yes, we are getting double jeopardy now.
Ripguard + ArCCos = El Bastardo.
but, there seems to be help on the way...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

If you do those DVD's, after you do MTR 2.6.6 Full Disc ARccOS then use Dtox Movie Only. Check to see witch cells have zero duration and uncheck them and then burn with whatever app you use.

doesn't work for RipGuard protected discs Lawnman...
you were in GB's r13 thread...only Toast 7, Dragonflix,
handle RipGuard enhanced discs.
DTOX kicks you out saying "Alll Files need to have been copied".
And I confirmed with evdberg over at DTOX this week...
DTOX (any version) isn't built to handle Ripguard discs...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

I might have done it different then with MTR 2.6.6 but I have a copy of it.

I concur because I too, was able to use MTR 2.6.6 Full Disc ARccOS then use Dtox Movie Only. Worked fine for me.

I don't use Toast7 to compress because it is no different than Popcorn . I used it(Popcorn) at first but got a lot of pixelation so I got DTOX 1.4.2 and I don't use anything else.
Yes, I am a regular at RipDifferent.
Dragonflix has bad quality. -
So what Are you doing then Lawn, on the Ripguard stuff?
Ripguard + ArCCos seems to be making DTOX useless,
unless all you want is MOVIE ONLY copies.
I'm also hearing it's making Backups of TV Show Discs
damn near impossible...especailly anything
out of the Touchstone/Disney/ABC camp...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

That's all I need for a back-up is movie only, like I said in my post. Movie Only.

MTR R12 will rip Flightplan (which Geezer has stated, in a post over at RipDifferent, is a RipGuard disc).
The problem was when we would do a FULL DISC extraction, not only would DTOX error out but Apple DVD player would crash when you tried to play the movie. You could watch all the previews, etc but when you chose to play the movie, DVD player would crash.
I was successful, along with Lawnman and others, using R12 MAIN FEATURE. There is no need for any compression since the resulting file is only 4.07GB (Movie, AC3 & English Subtitles).
I would try it again tonight, to prove my point but Geezer has my copy of Flightplan. -

sheesh..like tryin' to pull teeth sometimes....
I can also verify with the wife's new b-day present that Grey's Anatomy
Season 1, Disc 1 and Disc 2,
is RipGuarded and can't be done using MTR Full Disc ArCCos,
and then DTOX 1.42.DTOX 1.42 starts whinin' like a little
Beeyotch about the "IFO structures"....Toast 7, though, works like a champ
[ a nod to Frobozz for pushin' me into Tiger and Toast7 AGAIN 8) ].
If I was DTOX's makers I would be
right now....for such slow keeping up on current standards...."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

No need to Willrob...I've verified with edvberg over at
DVD2ONE.com that it's just asas DTOX 1.42,
when it comes to Ripguard."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
