hey guys
just wonderin what the two filters Chroma Smoothing and temporal smoother do in virtual dub, how they can help me and if they should be used.
I'm encoding DV to Xvid. Thanks for any advice!

The better question is what do you need to do? I don't think either would do much useful with DV, unless you have a specific need or problem.
There are VD filters I use fairly often, though not with DV. The RGB filter is handy for correcting color shifts. The White Balance does several corrections in one filter. Some of the denoise filters, like the MSU denoise is handy for noisy videos. If you go to http://neuron2.net/, they have the most complete listing.
With any filter; Try it out and see what it does. But don't filter unless you need it.
