    I think the Xvid/avi file is about 1000kpb , when i convert them to dvd files so i can watch on standalone..how much birate should i use to lose much quality?

    Do I must use abou 4000kbs? the movie is about 3 hours long...Thanks, im using NERO

  2. use a bitrate calc and figure out what the highest you can go is......if your aiming for a single layer disc, though, its gonna probably look a little rough on the quality end.........probably in this case, too, even if your aiming for a dual layer disc, just because 1000k/s doesnt generally make for the greatest source for a dvd conversion.....

    its avi/xvid files...so i dont think i would need like 3000k birate , do i?

    It doesn't matter if it's XVID or Divx, the main thing to concern yourself with is the length of the film. A 3 hour film will give you a constant bitrate of just over 3000. Encode a bit of the file and see if the quality suffices.
