    Hello.
I'm capturing TV to DV from my satellite receiver at the resolution of 720x480. I'm using the Cannopus ADVC-100 to do this, and it only allows me to capture at this resolution.
When I capture the video file and encode it to XviD, the resulting file has black space above and below and a little bit of space on the sides. I would really like to get the video playing full screen but it doens't (have tried various media players).

Could someone please let me know how I can get my video to display without the vertical/horizontal bars that are preventing me from seeing my video fill the screen.
    Thanks!

You would need to crop before or during encode.

The satellite receiver is outputing in a letterbox format. That explains the origin of the top and bottom black bars.

The left and right black strips are guard bands that exist outside the 704x480 4:3 image area. You can crop to 704x480 and still have a DVD spec MPeg2.
