  2. I have had good Luck with VideReDo, It has commercial detection that works pretty good but like anything it isn't 100% but can be tweaked to improve its performance.

I have found it to be very easy to use/navigate with a coarse and fine sliders for movement and configurable keyboard controls down to frame by frame using the arrow keys.

It depends what you're capturing to (AVI - Divx, Xvid, DV, HuffyUV ....) or MPEG-1/2 or WMV ?

All of my caps are via an ADVC-100 so I'm dealing with DV which has a lot of pros as far as editing goes, such as every frame being an I frame and therefore able to be a cut point (AFAIK Divx and Xvid are normally somewhere between 240 and 300 frames, which can make editing lots of fun !). I use the trusty combo of virtualdubmod and an AVISynth script, which allows me to just insert Trim points automatically without having to save out to a new commercial-less file. I just open the script in TMPGEnc Plus and the Trim commands make the encoder only encode the footage contained within those points.

Can you provide more information regarding your capture process ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
