i'm new to this dvdRB scene, anyhelp will be appreciated

what avisynth filters do u guys always used, no matter what type of
dvd (movie or episodic), how much compression and w/ or w/o extras
the filters mentioned here is good enough = http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/arc...der_tutorial_ad...
or are there better one here = http://www.avisynth.org/warpenterprises/

also right now i'm using the latest dvdshrink to remove the cover and extras and edit the movie to remove the opening and closing credit before i use dvdrb
will i have problem w/shrink and is there a way so i can prevent any problem using shrink
or should i learn how to use dvd-fab/decryter and remake now to not waste time w/shrink

  2. Seems to be something wrong with your afterdawn link...
I guess you mean backups of copyrighted movies?

Always use? None. But depending on the movie, I'll occasionally use:
    Levels for *slight* gamma correction.
Tweak to adjust hue, saturation, brightness and contrast.

I shouldn't think there are many commercially available movies that need them really, but there's always Undot and Deen to denoise. Maybe Fluxsmooth to...smooth the picture. Or FFT3DFilter to sharpen and denoise, but it's quite slow.

Have fun with it, sounds like you're a hobbyist like me. Maybe a couple of the pros will answer.

  4. Oh, didn't answer some of your questions. I always do movie only, unless it's an episode disc. In that case, it's convenient to use VobBlanker to get rid of crap like warnings, intros, adverts, extras, etc, while preserving the menu. If you're using DVDRB you want the best quality, right? I guess that's why you're cutting credits with DVDShrink, huh? But to each his/her own, some folks want it all.

As to using DVDFabDecrypter for problematic discs (ARccOS), have a look at an alternative method:

    http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56831

The reason for using the above method? 'Cuz DVDFabDecrypter often mangles the DVD structure. If DVDShrink (which is kinda picky about that) won't open Fab output...that's why. Sometimes (usually?) it works to run the Fab output through FixVTS, then open in Shrink. Good luck.

You open the filter editor in DVDRB, type it in, that's it. Assuming the filter is in the Avisynth plugins folder, you're good. If you don't clear the filter editor, what's there will run every time you use DVDRB. But it's got to be in the proper form, see the Avisynth site and read everything there. Or at least read about the specific filters you want to try. You have the pro version of DVDRB, dunno if it has any provisions for making it easier somehow than the regular method.

Maybe check out Doom9 as well, many of the regulars there are what LordSmurf would call a real "Avisynth cult". :P
