  1. I'm looking for suggestions for a nw DVD recorder. I use it primarily for recording sporting events, so it's important that the recording quality is good enough that I don't get those pixels around the players when they move. It must also be able to record a RW that is compatible with TMpeg DVD author and if it's possible, have that fine tuning option, where I can set the quality to the length of the recording instead of a straight one hour, two hour, etc. quality mode.
I've been using a Phillips for a while now, but it's very basic. I'd like to get something a little better. I tried a Cyberhome just for kicks and it was horrible, and TMpeg wouldn't rcognize the files.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

I'd recommend the Pioneer also. I have a 633. The EPG can get irritating, but you get used to it. It works well with cable systems.

I would highly suggest the JVC DR-M100S DVD recorders. Pioneer models would be a good runner-up choice.
