Hello,
I have a movie broken into 2 .avi files. I am attempting to place them on a dvd-r disc and play them on my home dvd player.
First I use D-Vision 3 to join the two .avi files. I use D-Vision 3 because the last 20 minutes (or so) of the few movies I have attempted to join with ffmpegX appear with a white screen, but with audio.
So I have the 2 .avi files joined... next I "fix" them with with D-Vision 3 with the "for DVD/Divx player" option on. I am not sure if I need fix the joined .avi file, but it sounds like it would help.
Next I then use ffmpegX to convert the joined+fixed .avi to convert it to DVD Video.
The DVD mpeg2enc setting is what I start out with. I read that I should drop my aduio bitrate to 384 kbit/s so I change that setting. I have audio in CBR mode.
I then take the outputted ts folders and burn them with Toast... I have tried useing 4x 2x 1x burn speeds.
When I attempt to play the DVD in my Panasonic DVD-S35, it stutters (skips, jumps, etc.) the entire time, not playing smoothly.
I figure that my problem is that I am encoding my DVD video at too high a bitrate for my DVD player to read. The same DVD is unwatchable do to skipping on a PS2 and stutters less on a buddies DVD player.
At what bitrate should I encode my DVD-Rs for my DVD player? If I might be having trouble because of another part of my conversion... please let me know.
Thanks,
ProphetofJah
