  1. OK, guys. Take two.

I have a Panasonic Palmcorder Palmsight VHS-C PV-L559 camcorder. I have the cable adapter for video output with the yellow and white a/v cables on the off camera end. What would I need to be able to record video and transfer it to my laptop?

I am looking at a VHS capture adapter like the Easycap that goes from your a/v fittings to a usb hookup.
Is this needed? Do I need a tape regardless for recording data? Or can I rig something to record to a memory card or some such storage device where I don't need to buy the tapes?

Here's a basic rundown on my laptop.

    Dell Inspiron 1501
    40GB HD
    Roxio DVD Creator
    Windows Media Player
A couple of other possibly related programs on the PC.

Now, I am not familiar with video slang or lingo at all so go slow and speak in little words that an auto parts salesman might understand.
    Thank you.

Any capture card (including most TV cards) have audio/video inputs and can do what you are trying to do. Just in your case, you are limited to USB versions.

  3. OK. What's a capture card?

    (stop snickering)

See, I'm not proud. I just don't know what any of this means and hope to learn.
    Thank you.

Or ANY other video card/device which allows video input (most TV tuner cards).
