  1. Ok I tried my first DL burn over the weekend (well my first two). I am using RiData +R DL media. First try was using toast 6.0 (not 6.1) and this did not work, there were several errors. The DVD would play on my Mac but not on my stand alone DVD players.

I then used DETOX to create a disc image and burned it with disc utilities. This worked with no errors and the DVD would play on my stand alone units. The only issue was it took a long time to recognize the DVD and it took a long time to cue up the menu.

I am going to try other brands of media.

I have two questions, will Toast 6.0 work at all, and if not is there a better way to create the disc image.

    Thanks for any help.

You should upgrade Toast to v6.1.1, earlier versions were very buggy with DL support and use Verbatim media.

  4. I will buy some Verbatim DVD+R DL media today. Not able to upgrade my toast.

I am going to give DVD Imager a try.

    ok, I'll bite...WHY buick?

if you don't remember your register name and
password at the roxio.com site, you can always
email them your VALID SERIAL NUMBER,
along with your EMAIL ADDRESS you would have registered
it under, and they can attempt to re-set your password,
where you can download the update.

Unless they have changed their ways since Toast 6. Roxio, like eBay and Amazon like to spam up my E-Mail account with useless offers and notifications. When they do send something concerning Toast or a Mac product I might have bought, it comes weeks after its been all over the internet, making it almost redundant. Everytime I go to update my roxio purchased product I have to try to remember the E-mail account address and password that I no long use anymore. Why do I no longer use it? Because I got tired of opening it up and having 5 messages telling me how great Easy CD creator is! I was kind enough to buy the product from them and not pirate it. I would like to be able to easily download updates from them without having to verify myself; especially if I'm in a hurry.

But I guess that's how it is. Punish everyone for the sins of a few.

(And no, I did not request for Roxio to keep me updated on their latest software and news.)

    do you chose this option:
    under My Roxio,
    under Email Subscription Preferences
    did you choose:

"I would like to unsubscribe from all the above."

I have mine set for that, and i don't get ANYTHING.
The only way I know if there is a new version on toast
    is if macuser25 tells me.

IMHO, if you haven't purchased the software, you don't deserve support or help with it, and you don't have any right to complain about issues. The reason companies require all the login and verification to get updates is exactly because of this.

Pirated software also makes the price higher for legit users. Sad if you ask me.

Or maybe I'm just miss reading your post

I think your subscription preferences get reset every time you download an update. Thankfully, all my Roxio emails get trapped in Gmail's spam filter. I'm with milatchi on this one.

I agree, I was not really looking for an upgrade to toast, just a different way to create a disc image, that I can burn with disc utilities. I get a script error when I use DVD Imager. I will keep using DETOX for now.

  12. I am confused if this is just for a dvd copy why cant you just use something like Mactheripper and then to a new DVD disc in Toast

I have burned tons of DL discs using my Pioneer 110, Verbatim/Memorex media and Toast 6 with no problems

It should not be any different then you would burn a 4.3gb dvd unless I am missing something

  13. I have yet to try my verbatim DL disc, only Ritek. When i tried the burn with toast 6.0 i had a bunch of errors, which resulted in a disc that would not play in my stand alone player. I had read that Toast 6.0 sometimes has issues with DL media.
