  1. I need a kind of simplest possible video editor for AVI (DivX) files, that will have the following features:

    - Cut \ remove scattered pieces out of any AVI file (DivX compression always!) in 1 editing session (I think the right horology is AVI trimming, right?)

    - Get the output AVI (again DivX!) in the minimum time possible, without any image or sound quality loss!!! If possible in 1-5 minutes!

    - Keys & mouse-wheel to use for frame-by-frame movement (down-to-1-frame-specification) & K frame.

    - Timeline with thumbnails feature. (I have seen this feature ONLY in TMPGEnc MPEG Editor by Pegasys until now & it was ******* nice!)

    Basically I use:
    - TMPGEnc MPEG Editor for MPEGs
    - Solveig Video Splitter for AVI editing
I'm dealing some issues with the Solveig Video Splitter (ONLY K frame movement, NOT frame-specific - Very painful to find specific scenes), but it's in ver 1.0 yet, so more to come... The good thing is that this software is DAMN FAST (= DivX movie of 650 MB edited + exported in new DivX AVI in 1:05 minutes!!!).
Do you know any other video editor that can do this?

I have also tried some others (TMPGEnc XPress, VirtualDub...)...
No luck for them! Especially VirtualDub needs a whole century to load & process an AVI file!!!

If you can propose me something better (but EQUALLY FAST) than Solveig Video Splitter, please share (send me an email if want to reach me)

Looking at your PC specs, you don't have a hope in hell of doing this. Virtualdub is close to what you want, in that it can write your edited file back without quality loss (so long as you edit on I frames only). But nothing is going to re-encode a Divx file in under 5 minutes without loss - it just cannot happen.

    Hi garfield314,

    Welcome to the forums.

Take a look at VirtualDub - it might meet some or most of your requirements. Failing that, check out the tools in these categories:

    Good luck.
