What is this stuff???

I see that you can switch between PAL and NTSC....What is this. Does it affect me? I watched two DVD's today without problems???Just curoius, as I see others with problems and have to switch to one or the other.???

This depends on the capability of your hardware player. Most players can play both PAL and NTSC discs, but not all can output to both PAL and NTSC signals irregardless of the original disc (i.e., not all DVD players can convert from PAL --> NTSC or vice versa well).

Furthermore, some players will be able to automatically switch from PAL to NTSC output or vice versa. Some won't.
