Trying to make back ups of The "Silver Anniversary Edition" of ANNIE.
Have tried 3 times, twice using AnyDVD/CloneDVD2, once using AnyDVD/NeroRecode. After programs proclaim successful burns, have tried playing back ups. The back up discs seem to play fine until it comes to ColumbiaTriStar disclaimer about commentaries in English. That disclaimer keeps repeating, and, the discs don't seem to be able to go farther.

I've got AnyDVD set to go to the menu, as an option. But I'm not certain that has anything to do with it, since the commentairies disclaimer comes after teh menu.

Does anybody have clue as to what's going on here?

What disc's are u using? Try different ones.. Make sure you have the latest versions of software. New Sony arcos protection have come out in the last few months. (I had the same prob with The Lords of Dogtown. All okay with the latest software versions. I use Memorex -r with good success. I back up wwith fab decrypter (anydvd running in the background) and burn with Recode 2 latest version before #7.

Has anyone else noticed that on The Island disc there is no 5.1 in English, only 2.0? I am in Toronto.

I'm using Fuji DVD-R. CloneDVD, and, NeroRecode are latest versions, AnyDVD is version before latest update, but supposedly can decrypt Acros. Thought occured as I read HHL's reply. Since DVDFab, and, DVDFab Decrypter are different, but, similar versons of the freeware standard DVDecyrpter, would the DVDecyrpter/DVD Shrink method work? Should I try DVD43 (DVD 4 free,)
which is,as I understand it a similar program to AnyDVD, but has supposedly better success in decrypting Acros?

  5. use anydvd, and rip with dvddecrypter.
then open dvd2one,and delete the weird cells..ok
read this post i halfway down,on how to do it oki give a basic rundown on how to remove them, thatll solve the problem.

nerorecode, adn dvd 43 are poop,so just go the dvddecrypter/anydvd method till you can get the jist.
arccos doesnt need that much decrypting, its just the placement of the cells thats a bugger.

and the island dvd does have 5.1 english audio.!!!!!

RottenFoxBreath (or, may I just cal you Muttley?)

You say I should run AnyDVD/DVDDecrypter, and, then save the "decrypted" file. run that through dvd2one. then burn it through DVDdecrypter. right?
I'm familar with running DVDdecrypter, running the resulting file through DVDshrink, then having DVDecrypter burn that result. What options do I select in DVDecrypter to have it save a "decyrpted" file, then burn that modified file.

  7. use anydvd and rip with decrypter -yes.
    then open dvd2one,pick say,for example,movie only.
then select the movie(longest time if theres multiple ones, some may be residual trailers, warnings etc.) then get to the cell/chapter screen, select cells, and remove the strange ones like in the post..multiple chapters 1's,with a size of 0meg etc.,then pick the audio, and wait, itll do its job.
i suppose after that, just use nero,to burn dvd,and import the vobs etc, just like a normal dvd.
unless you have copytodvd, where you just pick the vts.01.ifo and it puts the files where there meant to be,and burn it.
or you could use some kind of image maker,to burn an image, but thats taking it too far.
you need to rebuild the dvd after ripping it,with any software, unless you do an iso read iso write in decrypter.(really only used for DL burns.)

Made what I thought were totally successfull back ups of the above DVD. Used DVD43 with 1clickDVDcopy for the first back up, then made a back up of the backup using NeroRecode. Strange thing though, when I first checked each of the backups, they played fine in a Maganvox combo (1), and, a Memorex Disney Princess DVD player.
But then when I went to double check the first back up in the Magnavox, it wouldn't read. Then a little while later, it did read. The 2nd back up then would read in either the Memorex, or, the Magnavox. Can anyone explain this?

  9. a memorex disney princess dvd player,eh...pmsl.
id lay a bet on the discs are -ish quality.
better media,or different type(+opposed to - or vice versa.)
also, try to rip the backup with dvddecrypter,as an ISO read, then use ISO write with decrypter, and slow the burn speed to maybe x4 or 6..see if that helps.
    but i still say media,or nero..eurrrgh!

    Muttley:

As I said earlier, the media is Fuji DVD-R, and,as for making an additional back up, I'll try the method you suggest-but my burner's max speed is 4x.
From your comments about Nero, I take it that you are not a fan of either Nero, or, Adaptec. But, with few exceptions I have had good success using Nero to ReCode, and, to convert, and burn, other video files. Unforunately, the Sony Acros code used on the edition of Annie, I was backing backups from, was apparantly one that my copy of AnyDVD couldn't handle. (The Disney Princess player is my 4 yr old niece's The second backup wouldn't also read in my Nexxtech portable player as well.)

    Things are strange;
I found one of the "back ups" I made. Put it in my Magnavox combo player, and, it read it. I have no clue as to why, or, how. I'll just take the results and run!
