Hello All:
I would like to convert a few VHS to DVD via my computer. I have an ATI TV wonder tuner card installed in my system from Dell. I had to reinstall the OS so I no longer have the software installed by Dell.
I am not an expert here so I want to make sure I purchase the correct software. If I go with something like ROXIO's Easy Media Creator will I have all I need? How about Adobe's Premiere or am I better off with a dedicated capture software?
Thanks Bob

You should be able to download the proper software from ati's website. Just go to www.ati.com and look for your model number. Then you'll be able to capture with the proper software with no need to buy anything.

you should be able to get the ati software download. Discussion of best version here https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ATI_MMC. Version 8.7 seems to have good review. I'm still on 8.5 without major problems. This is for capturing, not editing, authoring, or burning.
See www.digitalfaq.com and other posts on this forum for additional help on capture settings. Don't rely on the defaults.
I got a free version of Roxio with my ATI card but don't like it much for authoring/editing/capturing. Good enough for building a data DVD but I don't use it for anything else."The fact to which we have got to cling, as to a lifebelt, is that it is possible to be a normal decent person and yet be fully alive." - George Orwell -

How can I determine the exact model that I have? The invoice from Dell just says tuner card. Where would the card be list in Device Manager?
thanks Bob
