I used Lifeview Capture card to copy some video from TV DVD player to my PC hard drive, then used TMPeg so it was then a Pal format.
Nero express states unexpected file/format and will not burn DVD or VCR.
I tried other burning software, some suceeded with a burn but none play on the TV VCR?DVD player. My TV DVD player supports WMA + MP3.
I am wanting to do more videos using Windows movie maker and also have a slide show in movie maker that I cannot burn.
I would like to have these in a format that my family can also view on their TV's.
I am reluctant to download the entire videos to my hard drive in case I can't burn it off, straight away.
Something is missing. Would really appreciate any help or advise. I was hoping that I didnt have to buy more expensive software to do this?
    Cheers. Lee.

So what you're saying was Nero Express will NOT accept your MPG file?

What kind of disc did you try to create? DVD?

What kind of MPEG file did you try to create out of TMPGEnc?

    A bit more details please.

Nero would not accept any way I tried. I also tried Wma and wmv.
I choose the Pal option in TMPGEnc to make a DVD to play [hopefully] on the TV.
I also tried to make a VCD with Nero -no sucess but I want DVD really.
My slide-show in windows movie maker will not burn to DVD either.
Sorry if I sound ignorant, hard being a newbie in this area! thanks L

If your source is a DVD, why not just rip it?

    Or am I misunderstanding you?

I *think* fernlea meant a combo TV/DVD/VCR device.

Back to more questions for fernlea

Please be specfic... WHAT choice did you pick out of TMPGEnc? MPEG-1 or MPEG-2? Full D1? Half-D1? Other? Screenshot would be best.

What was the exact error message out of Nero? Screenshot would be nice.

    Yes, a combo TV/DVD/VCR device.
I'll run it through again and advise of the exact settings.
I felt certain it was just the Pal one I checked.
What are the best settings to use?
I need to keep the quality high because the movie is very old and in quite poor condition.
Its on a ordinary video tape taken from a very old home movie.

WMA is audio only, WMV is video. Neither are good for later transfering to DVD. You might consider alternative capture software, including virtualdub.
