I suspect that the pioneer DVD drive in your recorder and/or it's firmware
doesn't like the DVD media you are using.

What brand & speed of DVD media are you using? OR better yet, what's the
manufacturer I.D./media code of the discs?

  3. Your Sharp recorder doesn't have a hard drive; does it? I wonder if you're confusing finalizing a disc (with a program already on it) with copying from the hard drive to the DVD and finalizing - because 20 minutes is about how long it would take to write 1 hour of SP video at 2x speed (DVD-RW) and finalize it. The finalization alone should only take a minute or so.

  4. The disc i finalized was not transferred from the hard drive at all.I had recorded some kids programs direct to disc days before so i wanted to finalize them. The kids wanted to watch them on there own player. When i went in to do that it took twenty minutes.I am using maxell 8x writeable discs so i dont know what happened.yes on my sharp there is no hard drive and a two hour disc took about five minutes to finalize.I had eight different shows on that disc to.
