I hear the Microsoft will start offering an external HD-DVD drive for their X-Box 360. I've noticed that the X-Box 360 DOES NOT HAVE A HDMI connection! If you want to get HD, you'll need to use the "Xbox 360™ Component HD AV Cable" which is COMPONENT! not HDMI!!
    see:
    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360componenthdcable/

I thought they were going to HDCP these things up the wazoo... Might we actually be able to watch a HD-DVD over component? This might mean that I don't have to buy a whole new HDTV to view HD DVD's.... Even though I hate Microsoft, this might be a selling point (if all the other HD-DVD players require HDMI/HDCP)....

    Any thoughts??

The Link you provided doesn't mention anything about HD-DVD playback. Only that Games playable in High Definiton over component and Progressive DVD playback at 480P, which is standard definition.

Its not up to microsoft, I doubt the companies behind HD-DVD would ever allow playback of HD-DVD over component (at least in High Definition). They are very strict with regards to copy protection.

dont think itll be around for long when the ps3 hits the streets, nintendo isnt a hd threat, there only into the games, but microsoft better hurry and get halo 3 out, alongside this hd drive and hope that slows the sony train down.

  4. I'm pretty sure the attachment itself will have the HDMI output.
