I've got a 702mb divx (Xvid) file (736,643,072 bytes) ethat I need to fit onto a 700mb cdr in data format to playback on a home divx player.

I go into nero to burn the data cd like normal, load the file onto the cdr section, go to burn and it tells me that the cd can only fit 702, and its 703mb in total.

I'm pretty sure the overburn feature is enabled, but in the settings it only mentioned time, not data.
I've selected the short burnout (supposed to fit an extra 12mb when selected), but I'm still having trouble getting it to burn.

I tried to use virtualdub to cut a few seconds from the file, but the audio goes out of sync when I do, so I'd prefer to burn it intact.

    The burner I'm using is a DVD-RW pioneer 107D.

    Any help would be great.

Dont think a IO7 dvd burner allows overburning ( I tried once on mine), I use a lite-on CD burner to do overburns on to CDs I think you can fit up tp 830 mb on to a standard CDR.

It sounds like you have Overburn enabled as "short leadout" is on the same page as Overburn. Have you tried changing the Overburn time by a minute?

There are 850 MB CDR's (99 min). But they too may not work in your drive.

And make SURE you are burning disc-at-once mode.

If none of that works, the only option is to use Mode2/Form2

Thank you for all your help people.

Armed with a few more idea's you gave me, I went through and double checked all the options were correct, changed the burn from track-at-once to disc-at-once (I could have overlooked this first time around), changed the maximum time on the disc from 1:30:00 to 1:40:00 made sure overburn and short leadout were enabled, gave it another try and hey presto!

    Thanks again.
