This problem happened a couple a weeks ago, before all worked fine.
95% of my images that I have burned to "Verbatim DVD-recordable 16x" arenīt working on my standalone Dvdplayer. Either the players says: "Disc error" or the movie jumps. I have burned movies with PAL and NTSC, i have used DVD-decrypt, DVD2ONE, CloneDVD2, Nero. The burning process works fine, and I can always watch the DVD on my computer. I have updated my firmware, but not the drivers since I canīt find a newer. I have Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S, the dvd-player isnīt a very expansive one, but I have played older dvdburns and it works fine.
Can someone help me with this ? I have tried to find a topic that I can relate to, but failed. Should I choose another booktype? Im not sure how to do that.

If you still have a copy of the source DVD laying around, do what you normally do, BUT use DVD Decrypter instead of Nero to burn your DVD and try again
Also, you could try dropping your burn speed down to x8 in Nero first and see if that makes a difference
Many months ago I had major problems where DVDs would play fine on one standalone, but refused to be even recognised on another standalone or skipped and stuttered to be totally unwatchable
I changed it twice and changed to another brand, still refused to even recognise the DVDs that played perfectly in my other standalone
All I did was change to DVD Decrypter to burn my DVDs, nothing else was changed at all, same media, same source, same spindle, just different burning software, ALL my problems stopped
Since then I avoid Nero for creating DVDs, and I was using the latest v6.xx at that time
For creating data CD, DVD, Neros great. For video DVD I think Nero is terrible, I'd read on here previously people struggling with problems with Nero, but othesr are very happy with it
Try using DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn anyway if dropping the speed to x8 doesn't work in Nero, if it cures your problems, then you know what to do
NOTE :
ImgBurn is by the same person who wrote DVD Decrypter, all it does now is burn DVDs, all ripping code has been removed -
Thank God, I am not alone.
I say that ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter are the culprits. I too used the those tools to burn the Verbatim Datalife 8x DVDs and those DVDs played only on 1 out of 5 DVD players I have.
I than used Nero 6.6.15 and instead of the image burned from a folder (DVD-Video project). All DVDs played on all DVD players I have.
I am not sure why people complain about NERO, it creates UDF 1.02 DVDs (checked it with DVD Info).
So, even though everyone prays the ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter, I am staying away from using them. -
I have used DVD decrypter and burned the VIDEO_TS in different programs, for example DVD-Video project in NERO. I havenīt tried Imgburn or ImgTools so that will be my next experiment. Thanks.

If you have an image, just burn it.
If you have a VIDEO_TS + AUDIO_TS folder, create ISO with ImgTools Clasic, burn with ImgBurn/DVDDecrypter

...and on your DVD you have 1 VIDEO_TS folder along with one AUDIO_TS folder, and the VIDEO_TS forder contains .VOB, .IFO and .BUP files?
/Mats -
Should be.
Well, then either the player doesn't like the media, or something's fundamentally wrong with the DVD...

Could It be that my burner are using PIO instead of DMA? Because Iīve tried changing it but I canīt even choose advanced settings for my driver.
-
Nope. 100% irrelevant in this case, I'm afraid.

get some cheap as shit media, and try that. 8speed media, and look into updating the firmware on the dvd writer.
also, make sure that the player isnt a +R prefer more so than -R.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
The firmware is updated, but how can I see if my player is +r prefer more so than -R ?
-
See if your player is listed here. If not, try both types. Along with +RW and -RW. Different manufacturers.

I have the same problem. However its the disk not how they are written.
You need to try another brand of disk. Also try changing from + to - Some players do not like the + disk others have no problems with them but do with the - disk.
I have 3 DVD players and no 2 are the same on what brands they will play. -
I use to have the same problem. Until I actually figured out what the culprit was.
I have an extremely old but reliable DVD Player, bought back in 98, its not really rated for DVDR's.
My problem is that they would play about 3/4 of the way through the movie and just start pixelating real bad and eventually freeze.
I tried new media, bought 2 new burners, different software. Nothing seemed to work. Until I tried to burn at slower speeds. The only speed that will allow me to play a movie all the way through without problems is 2.4x.
Hope this helps. -
I think the problem is from the Verbatime crap I bought some on sale and it freezes. I was fooled by the name. Maybe firmware is not updated I am going to try that too. I used lower speed burning even 4x , the scan shows ok with a good pass low error but on dvd player it freezes specially in the begining . I bought some -R too I am going to try, I'll let you know later.
-
4x wouldn't work for me either like I said I had to go with 2.4x. I would try that before changing media. different media made no diff for me.
