Does anyone know of any 3rd party pvr's (freeware, shareware or whatever) that allows you to pre-program svideo in for the MS Theater 550 Pro tuner ?

I Purchased a MSI Theater 550 Pro tuner, only to find out that the pvr does not work with the svideo in, it only works with coax.

I spent a fair chunk of change on this card, being told that a hardware capture card is better. only to find out that that the pvr only does coax. of course I'm really pissed off , and the place i bought it from is not the best for returning stuff.

I tried this freeware program called GB_PVR but i couldn't even configure it, nor did i see anything about svideo on there.

Thanks in advance for the info

Mid to hi-end Cyberlink apps are supposed to work well from what i've read -- also said the bundled app is limited or cheaper Cyberlink product. Would one of those have features you need?

Otherwise MMC is eventually supposed to work on those I think, or try scheduling app to start pvr set to s-vid?

  3. You can download MMC 9.13 from ATI's site (www.ati.com).

Other option are SageTV and BeyondTV

what is your source? If it is cable tv i'm not sure you'll see any gain off s-video. If you are wanting to capture from vhs then a pvr isn't really the solution.

I guess I'm just trying to see what your overall plan is for this setup.

gb-pvr is one of the easier pvr's to get setup...you might find more frustration elsewhere. but definitely try them out. I'll check my gb-pvr tonight and see if i can find a place to change the input. If you don't use the tuner though I'm not sure how the programming guide and scheduled recordings will work.

High Quality Satellite feed with svideo its near dvd quality 480i (dvd quality with svideo not dvd with component video)

my overall plan is to have the best quality video and sound from satellite feed with pvr function . i can capture svideo, but i cant pre-program it.

Just an update i found a free upgrade to power cinema 4 on the ati website, when i tried to upgrade it, it said i need to have version 3 installed, which of course i did have installed. i registered the software and have put an email into the tech-support ALthough im not sure if it this will fix my svideo problem.

  8. ATI's multimedia centre, which can be downloaded from ati's download site (under ALL-IN-WONDER drivers), but I'm not sure if you can schedule records with S-Video...
GB-PVR can do what you want though.

Are you saying MMC 9.13 works with the 550 cards? I have the AIW as well, so I have the GemStar program guide.

GB-PVR is said to work (free download).

As for S-Video, yes use it as first priority. If you must use composite, turn on the digital Y/C comb filter on the 550 tuner card.

  11. I went to upgrade MMC from 9.08 to 9.13 and I have had nothing but problems. The TV is now slow motion. I have uninstalled, re-installed and its udder junk.

I am using an ATI 9000 AIW on my mutli media center with xp pro. The 9.08 has worked flawlessly with time shifting and all. But with 9.113 its like On Demand is always on. Its pure crap so far.

    Any ideas?

I'm still happy with 9.02 for my AIW.

I wait for a long weekend before upgrading ATI software and then only after everybody else is happy in the forums.

sorry it has taken so long. you can choose s-video input with gb-pvr. You need to go to GB-PVR Configuration utility. then go to the Capture Sources Tab. Pick your source and then click the Edit button.

It will then open the edit recording source window. Click on the Settings Button beside the Recording Source Field. Mine is set to "Direct Recording Plugin".

The Config window will open and you can select the source here. See attached image.

  14. ATI's MMC 9.13 works fine for me (for watching and capturing TV), but I'm just using a theatre 550 pro card without an AIW. GB-PVR can schedule records using any of the 3 card's inputs (Tuner, S-Video, composite).

Anyone know if BeyondTV4, MMC v9.13 and GB-PVR can co-exist on the same machine?
