I downloaded this hockey game with the following information

    Resolution: 448x336
    Audio: LC-AAC CBR 64Kb
    Bitrate: 800
    Codec: X264
    Frame Rate: 29.97

It is an mp4. I converted it into DivX with Dr Divx and didnt change the resolution because its already nonanomorphic (4:3)

Anyways so when i watch it on the tv there are black lines to the left and right of the screen. My tv is a normal 30 something inch Sony Wega. Im not sure what is goin on.

Can someone help me out so i can watch this full screen??

Once you adjust for the fact that pixels aren't square on televisions, you will find that the image is slightly narrower than 4:3, so you will get some black bars up either side. They should not be large (about 8 pixels a piece) if you the rest of the image isn't distorted.

well i think the square is more than 8 pixels. Ill attach a picture, maybe u or someone else could tell me what the prob is. This is how i see the hockey game on my tv.

Looking at that image, everything is in proportion. This means that you cannot watch it 'full screen' without sacrificing part of the image. It is therefore somehow related to how your player is presenting the images to the TV. I can't tell you exactly how or why - perhaps it is the way Dr Divx encoded it ?

    448x336 is a 1:1 pixel 4:3 ratio.

So when you convert this to the DVD format you have two options. Either go 704x480 for Full D1 resolution (and I would pad 8 pixels on either side for 720x480) or you can go 352x480 for Half D1 resolution.

OK I just re-read what you wrote and you want to convert it to a Full Screen DivX file. In which case you can resize it from 448x336 to 640x480 which is "full screen" for the DivX format.
