Problem using Nero to burn mp3s

I am using the Nero 6.6 to make mp3 cd-rs. I am trying to burn my mp3s, tried burning it 4 times before it would finally work. The problem comes at the end when it is 99% done, it tried to close it but the error comes and says" burn process failed" I do not know why (since it allowed me to burn it 1 time out of 5 tries) It frustrates me to have to waste 4 cd-rs.

My total mp3s is 672 MB, the cd-r can hold 700 MB so there is room. Otherwise it wouldnt have let me burn that one cd successfully. The weird thing (whether I use Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express) is at the bottom there is a bar that show the total size of the content. It shows yellow bar right after 650 or so. The rest of the bar is blue( I think blue means ok) Yellow means you are over. But my cd can hold up to 700mb. Anyways, I have successfully burn one cd (672 mb) so I know it works. Just the other times it says "burn process failed". Why is that?

So I just tried copying the "entire cd" (from the one that successfully burned" to a cd-r since I wanna make a few copies, but I get the same "burn process failed toward the end. can someone tell me whats wrong?

Maybe try a different brand of CDRs ?

It wouldnt be that problem since I have been burning fine with these.
I was just curious why it has the bar at the bottom with yellow after 650mb or so?

I doubt its the cdr since I can burn other compilations fine. For some reason, its this one that gives me problems at 672 mb. Is it pusshing too close to 700mb?

It worked once out of 5 tries....weird

Most CD-R's have a capacity of more than 700MB, so I doubt that is your problem. Try some other burner app like CD Burner XP Pro

What I dont understand is that I have been using the riteks cd-rs forever. Never a problem. I burned a bunch of compliations, Rap, Hip hop, chinese, japanese, alternative, but for some reason, when I try to burn this compliation of 672 mb total, it will have diffulty closing it out toward the end. "Burn Process failed" What is the problem? Do I need a patch?

What strikes me weird is that it was ABLE to burn after 4 tries. So I know the mp3s arent corrupted or anything. I know these cd-rs are good cause I have been burning other songs forever with no problem. I've never really had an issue with Nero 6.6 What could be the problem?

You may have got a bad batch of discs.

Your burner might be on its last legs.

Some of your files may be corrupted and you just got lucky with that 1 successful burn.

The first thing I'd try is different media.

I tried different brands. Same result. I know its not the ridata brand, theyve been awesome so far. It might be that there is a courrupt mp3? But is there anyway to tell? I mean, given that one of the 100 mp3s might be corrupt, wont it detect it while its burning...why does it wait till the end and why did it succesfuly burn one time? Did I just get lucky? Is there a program that lets me scan my files so I can make sure its ok? I used Norton but it didnt detect anything.

You dont think its the software?
There is a update I think, but not sure EXACTLY what it updates.

I find it VERY helpful if the MP3's are on the same HD as the software. All of my bad burns from MP3 to CD have been from my external drive and forgetting to slow down the burn speed.

Check the obivious. Are you sure these are 650MB or 700MB

...or try anything besides Nero! There is no law, stating that all CD's and DVD's has to be burned with Nero, is there?
The number of apps I've discarded because they don't do what they claim/pretend to do (on my system), are about 10* the number of apps I use.
