  1. right now I'm using a light-on 811S, works fine except it's limited to 4x -r and it doesn't have DL or any other special capabilities.
    Thinking about getting a lightscribe drive, not for my dvd's but to label those special disks like all my old software old files, etc. thing is I really want the best burner for my buck.
    Lightscribe would be great once the disks come down in price so would DL Also the label etching speed is a question here I read the hp drive at least the first one takes about half an hour
    so on pricewatch there are a few choices for 50 to 75 bucks
    Samsung SH-W162L, Lite-on SHM-165H6S and there is one that is retail ends in 04;
    and the benq 1655 drive and the lg GSA-4166BK which is the most expensive one.
    Are these drives any good and which one is better than the rest, looking especially at media burn- readabillty with the cheaper media here. if I can save myself money here on media because these burners are a bit better than the older 811s that would be good (for example I got some ritek media -r which is usually very good but the readablillty shucks in my lite-on matter of fact wouldn't burn till I hacked the firmware anyway. also have 16x memorex (cmc ) that just won't read in my playstation2 properly unless I burn at 2 x yikes
