Does your capture card have an audio out that is supposed to be plugged into the audio in on your audio card? I don't have one so I am just taking a stab in the dark trying to kill an evil leprechan.

you really need to be more specific. what do you have? what is plugged where?
one basic thing to check is that wherever your audio is coming in (usually via the "line-in" jack on your sound card) that the appropriate recording volume control is selected and not at zero volume. to access this, double-click the yellow speaker in the taskbar (or go to multimedia properties in control panel and enable it). click options->properties->recording to see the input volume. remember, input and output are separate.
