I have only owned one DVD recorder (a LiteOn) before this JVC. I just got it and am learning how to use it. When I use the timer programming on the JVC I notice that although I may have the time set to begin at 9:00 AM and go off at 11:00 AM the machine does not restrict what mode I can use. By that I mean I can select XP (1 hour mode) even though I have set it to record for 2 hours.
My question - which category does the machine use first? Will it record for 2 hours since that is what I set the time for or will it just record 1 hour since it is set to XP mode?
The LiteOn that I had would not allow you to set a mode that did not match your time settings.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks pepegot1.
I will look into FR mode. Can I still edit the recorded dvd on the computer, i.e. take out commercials and add menus using FR?
Thanks again.
