I have been using the newset version of DVDDecrypter together with and seperately from DVDShrink to backup some DVDs. The quality looks good, my only problem is when there is a scene with fast movement or fast motion in it, the area that the motion is occuring in gets pixely. I thought it was the compression from DVDShrink, so I used Decrypter alone and did not compress the file. Then I burned from the MDS file instead of the ISO file...and still...same problem.
What am I doing wrong? Or is this a common problem in burning with PC programs. All I can compare to is my stanalone samsung burner which makes excellent backups whether there is alot of movement/motion or not.
Any thoughts? Please help me correct this problem.

    Thanks

    To clarify my problem:

Example: In a scene with someone beating on a door, their is alot of pixelization around their hand until they stop or slow down considerably...everything else looks fine, except this
Surely there is a way to stop this...

DVD Edcrypter does not change the file, so that is not the cause.

Does it do this on both the TV and the PC ?

Does the original file have this problem ? - Look closely, because it is amazing the number of times people don't accept that the problem existed in the original, even though it clearly did.

There is no difference between burning from the MDS file and burning directly from the ISO file.

DVD Decrypter does ZERO compression so it wwould be impossible for that to happen with DVD decrypter alone. Your original more likely also has that problem. Usually associated with too low a bit rate when it was encoded. Are you backing original DVDs?
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

is this DVD original bigger than 4.37GB?

I presuime you haven't got a dual layer burner so if you are not compressing the file with DVDDecrypter but burning it then why compress it with DVDShrink?

as guns1nger mentions the problem will be on the original if you see it on the uncompressed copy

    **UPDATE**
I thought I would update my situation in case anyone else runs across the problem I had. After reviewing my replies from here and afterdawn, I was still no closer to solving the problem. I had been using one of the online guides to adjust decrypter.
I had double checked all settings to make sure nothing was changed by mistake. Still no good, everything was EXACTLY as suggested in the guide.
A friend of mine suggested the most basic of solutions, reset everything to default. I had initially scoffed at his idea. But after nothing else worked and no great insight from anyone else I figured what the hell. After reinstalling and starting from scratch with all default settings, everything looks great. It turns out no changes needed to be made at all to get a perfect backup.
One big difference I noticed was that I am now using ” file” mode to read the disc getting several VOB files, instead of using the suggested “ISO” read mode to get one big ISO file(and MDS file). It seems this simple change made all the difference in my case. I should have remembered simplicity first.

  7. Is the new copy on the same media? It is possible the first copy was a different media quality.

Nope...I only use sony dvd-r media. I like to keep a steady solid base for all my dvd work. That way I am never guessing about the media quality or reliability.
It was the settings, of that I am certain. I got the exact same problem 12 times out of 12 different videos. After switching back to default settings, I have not seen the defect once.
    Problem solved
