  1. Hey Guys,

O.k, Im able to make a VCD but my DVD wont read it. I have a Sharp DV-600u which claims to play VCD's, and it supports CDRW (only). My VCD is on a RW so thats not the problem. The thing is that when I insert it into the DVD player it recognizes it as a VCD but when I try to play it the player spits it out.

I know the VCD is good because I can play it in Windows with media player. My burner is a Phillips PCRW 1208 and Ive tried using Nero (burnt fine but same result in DVD player), I converted the .DAT to MPEG and tried EasyCD 5.02, same result. The movie originally came in bin/cue format so I burnt it with FireBurner, same result.

Now, Ive never tried a "pre-made" VCD so I cant tell you if that would work but I'm guessing it wouldn't.

Have any of you herd of Sharp DV-600U's having this problem? Any other suggestions on what I should try?

    Thanks,
    Aaragon

    Try this one: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcd.htm

Burn the sample, which works on my DVD player on RW and R cd's. If it does not play, your player might not accept it. Some players are very picky about VCD's.

  3. BerrantRyke,

Thanks for the reply. That was the first place i went to. I burnt/tested both the PAL and NTSC samples... same result. Im begining to think that my DVD DOES NOT support VCD's.

  4. It is probably the brand of CD-RW you are using. My player can read the cheap off-brand CDs but cant read the Office Depot brand. Very strange

  6. Thanks BerrantRyke, looks like -=^SilentAssassin^=- may be right on. Ill see if I can get a different brand of RW. I used Maxell before so maybe that was the problem. Ill give it a shot tomorrow.

    Glad to help.

READ, READ, and READ some more. Try e-mailing those users who reviewed your player, ask them what brad they used.
