It depends on the dvd divx player...but it usually works like naming the files like video.avi and video.srt and you press the subtitle-button on the remote when you play the video. Search for the dvd player using google and see if you can find some info...or check the manual if they mention anything about subtitles.

or make xsubs...very complex but it should work on many divx players, https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=267432&highlight=xsub

thats the problem i encountered a while ago, some read srt fine some dont. Follow the link posted by Baldrick and read the guide here

    http://projects.gdion.biz/guides/dmfwithxsub.html

with the xsub format your subs will look the same and be in the same position on any divxcertified player.

I made an small free application [avisub] that can add up to 3 subtitles without reencoding the avi.
    Take a look here :
    http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAviSub.html

    As input subtitles supports :
    srt
    sub txt / microdvd format
    son

    Outputs:
    An *.divx file [subbed avi]

I also added the gabest's tool subresynch so someone that have an vobsub can convert it to son and then load it to avisub in order to get an *.divx avi with embed subtitles.

Is has been tested with success to these divx players :
    Contel DVR2000
    Digitrex JDP500D
    LG9900
    Philips DVP720SA
    Samsung HD850

    Hope you like ite !

  8. if you already have the subs in srt format, divxmux can take the files and form one divx media file that should be compatable with any divx certified device.......grab it from labs.divx.com (mind you, its a command line tool though, so if your not familiar with command line........)
